The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew

Play

This is my second podcast! 🙂

This week I am talking about one of my favorite books. It is the story of the Pepper family, and it follows them through all the ups and downs of their crazy lives. With a couple of very funny, and a couple very cute stories thrown in to balance it out. 🙂

This is a great read aloud for the whole family – kids of all ages will enjoy it.

I hope you like listening!

    Brett,
I think it is wonderful that you are showcasing family friendly books through your blog. That’s great! The story about the 5 little Peppers seems like a very good read! I wish I had known about this one when I was growing up. So sorry I missed it. Being the youngest of 5, I think I could have related to Phronsie. LOL
Keep up the great reviews, Brett! 🙂 It’s awesome that you are such a fast reader!

brett- i love this book- my grandmother read me this book every summer growing up.
i love your site but more than that i love that you are a reader!!! books are so important to our lives they take us anywhere we want to go, teach us inspire us and lift our heavy hearts. i have always been a reader and a book always goes with me where ever i go. my children were always given books for every holiday and milestone event (i.e. the toothfairy always brought a book-tooth relate story- as did the easter bunny -farmyard animals), and because of that by the time they were in 6th-7th grade they were testing out as 3rd year college readers!!! they have both graduated college and are continuing their education into graduate school now.
your site is fun and informative as well as interesting. i like the pictures of the family and the story of your first baby sister!

lol 🙂 no i did not get them that book as i had not heard of it, or i most surely would have! it sounds like fun… i have read all of the five little pepper books thanks to my grandmother. one of my favorite books that i read to my kids was “how to mend a broken heart” of course i loved all the monster books, and all of the original laura ingalls books (my grandmother had the whole collection). when i was growing up i read all of the hardy boys and nancy drew books till i started reading generation books (i call them that as they follow a family from one country into another and down several generations in that family). they are my all time favorite books. they give you not only views of other countries which has always been awesome to me but more important they give a great insight into various cultures (i.e. jews, irish, etc.). the stories are so rich and informative and have the power to sweep you away till the very end. cynthia freeman (who has passed away now) was one of my favorite author when i made my transsion from they hardy boys/nancy drew series in my early teens. do not ever lose your love for books they will take you everywhere and they will always be there like an old and good friend in a time of need.
by the way i loved that poem that your friend wrote. it was very good.

      Teresa,

It is a really funny one. 🙂

I love Little House, loved Nancy Drew, but I never really got hooked on the Hardy Boys. Back then I had only little brothers, so I tended to stay away from as much “boy stuff” as I could. LOL

What are those generation books you are talking about? They sound really good!

I’ll tell Abigail. She will be very happy. 🙂

      Thanks!

a good author to start with for the generation books is cynthia freeman. go to http://www.cfreemannovels.com there you can see a list of here books with synopsis of each one- although they lean a little toward the adult side they are mother approved- they are not vulgar – they lean toward the old fashion side but they will transport you to a different time and place, and you will learn cultures and history in each and every novel. try your local library also barnes and nobles sells them for a penny to 99 cents.- might find them in thrift stores or yard sells as well. if you do find one and read it please let me know what you thought of it. i hope that you learn to love these generation books as i do – for their lessons on life and relationship.
